May 16th, Sunday/ I'm sitting here watching the last Survivor show and I gotta say it... I dig Survivor! Personally, I think it's fixed but I dig it! I say I think it's fixed because how in the hell is Russell still in the game? Don't get me wrong... He's great for TV! I just don't understand how the players cannot see that he is the snake? He's worse than any beast on that island... And, yet he's still in the game. This shit is too funny! I don't think he will win the money but how in the hell can he call the shots and be there for the last show? Stupid!
Wait a minute... The first tribal council is up... Hold on... Wait for it...Doh! Russell survives another tribal council!
I gotta go! "This gon' be good!"
Miscellaneous Turds are the rants of an invisible man. Now these rants will not be malicious or mean spirited. However, they will be outragous and quazi rediculous! If you find yourself offended in anyway just remember that it is not about you! (And, you can get your own blog and post your own ideas!)

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
April 11th, Sunday/ Okay, now that some time has passed since the Tiger Woods fiasco, when will it be realized that the "Tiger Woods Experiment" is a complete and utter disaster? Somewhere along the line, it was determined that a "super golfer" was needed to propel the sport to higher heights. Tiger appeared on Johnny Carson, billed as the next phenomenon of the golf world and BOOM, there he was, Tiger Woods! Tiger showed up and was treated like Moses parting the Red Sea (or the fairway as it were). He was dynamic and majestic and, well... "Super Golfer!" Tiger stormed golf courses like the American troops stormed the beaches of Normandy. OMG! His swings, his putts, his fist pumps...! His money(?). He is (was) truly a talent. Other golfers feared him. When he showed up on the greens, the question became, "Who is going to win second place?" And then it happened...Tiger became a man! A cheating man. A disrespectful to his family man. He committed a transgression that has existed in our society since "time in memoriam." It wasn't so much what he did as it was he got caught because of what he did.
Entitlement is a nasty thing. When achieved, it makes you feel invincible, powerful, indestructible! You can say anything! Do anything...You can be arrogant and insensitive. So what? But, when something happens to bring it all down, you become exposed like a junkie with a habit and no means to support said habit.
Role model? Was he ever a role model? Of course he was and still is; but, for all the wrong reasons. To reach the level he achieved as a professional golfer requires a certain kind of grit that does not speak to being warm and fuzzy. You have to be ruthless and callous. You get paranoid and private and you "want to ba alone!" (Except when you want the company of your own kind!) Others want to be with you, touch you, shake your hand and vow to never wash that hand again.
The "created" Tiger is long gone! The "real" Tiger is here now! He is who he has always been and it is time for those longing to be like him (or be him, basically) can "just do it!" You won't have his game but you can easily channel his personality. It is easy... Just act like you are "entitled" and the rest is easy. And, if you don't get all caught up in it, you will come to know that you can "be like Mike" too!

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
March 8th, Monday/ Oh the Oscars! I dig the Academy Awards! The SAG and People's Choice Awards, and any other awards shows, weeds out all the bullshit films. That's not to say that those films, be they bullshit, are not worthy. They are just not worthy of an Academy Award!
Take Avatar for instance... C'mon, blue people speaking a trumped up language, riding dragons and living in Disney land... Is that really worthy of an Oscar? Real life is Oscar worthy! Movie metaphors... As the say in the Black Baptist church, "Well...!" As tricky as it was to make Titanic, at least that was about real life. That actually happened! Avatar may be happening too... In Cameron's imagination! Oh yeah, he can make a film but he is no Tim Burton! Even when he talks, he sounds like a caricature of a cartoon. When Tim Burton talks, you KNOW he is a real cartoon!
No, I did not see Avatar. Don't want to see it. The promos turned me off. Cameron is already rich. He doesn't need my $15.00. There are enough suckers in the whole world he managed to reach. And, he actually sealed his fate at the Golden Globes when he said, arrogantly, that he thought his ex would win! He was either very giddy or very drunk if he even thought she would win a GG! But,even in NA'VI's universe there is a balance. His ex won Best Pic and Best Director from the Academy (Note: Her movie was about a real life situation... Not blue people rubbing against dragons!)And then there was Mo'Nique. She deserved her award but was she acting or mimicking her past life? She said she was molested in her youth. Is she still being (mentally) molested and had that to draw on? (I know that I always feel molested by her comedy!) Whatever... She did a great job and she should have won./ Everybody else? So what? Only, how come the Academy treats Meryl Streep like Susan Lucci? Didn't they see "She Devil?"

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
February 14th, Sunday/ Tonight is NBA All Star Game night! What a night! All of the stars are hanging out. The beautiful peeps are tripping a night fantastic!
So, I'm watching TNT and Dwight Howard is being interviewed by David Aldridge and Howard is being asked about why he and Shaq are bitching over the title of who is "Superman?" Shaq is pissed that Howard is being recognized as "Superman?" Are you fucking kidding me? So now there is friction between these two multi-millionaires over who is deemed "Superman!" Aren't there enough super heroes to go around? Can't one be "Batman" or the "Green Lantern?" To be honest, one of them is acting like "Wonder Woman!"
I don't know... Maybe that's normal behavior for the "Neauveau Riche?" That type of behavior is just as normal as... Let's see... Pinching a loaf in a teammate's shoe???

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
February 4th, Thursday? Outside of minding your own business, here is another real good reason to leave the Haitian people alone..."Each kidnapping count carries a possible sentence of five to 15 years in prison. Each criminal association count has a potential sentence of three to nine years."
It is one thing to help, and it is a whole 'nother thing to shuttle Haitian babies out of the country because you feel like it! There is specific help the Haitians need at this point... I don't think kidnapping is it. Whatever happened to following procedure or consulting with the proper authorities? What happened to protocol? Whatever happened to "minding your fucking business?"

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
January 30th, Saturday/ The dust is starting to settle on the Gilbert Arenas saga. He will be sentenced in March on the gun charges. The NBA Commish has suspended him for the rest of the year... BUT... There is still one thing that needs to be addressed.
It was reported that Gilbert, as a practical joke, pinched a loaf in one of his teammate's sneaker! How in the hell do you do that? I mean, I know how he did it but how could he? You have got to be a grade A asshole to do some (shit) like that! (Yes, the pun is intended!!!)
I would find it hard to respect someone who could do that shit! (Yes, another pun!) Maybe, just maybe I could understand it if he were about to have an accident and grabbed the first thing he saw to catch it. But, then again, he could have used his own sneaker. He (had) a sneaker deal! It was not like he did not have his own.
There are those who are baffled by the fact that this guy brought guns into his work place but, c'mon... This (place whatever word you want to use here) crapped in someone's sneaker! And, did he wipe his ass with his teammate's socks?
DAMN...!

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
January 27th, Wednesday/ Alright, enough already! This Gilbert Arenas thing has gone too far! In case you don't know, Gilbert Arenas is the former all star guard for the Washington Wizards that is presently being punished for storing guns in his locker at work and mocking the situation during a game day warm up. Now everyone is wondering what will happen to him. The DC court system has decided to pass judgement on him on March 12th. NBA Commissioner, David Stern, has suspended him to a term yet to be determined. The Wizards seem to be positioning themselves to try to get out of owing Arenas $80 million dollars and voiding his contract... Oh whoa is me... and Gilbert!
Do you want to know what to do? Send Gilbert's ass to the NBDL (National Basketball Developmental League), pay his ass scale, let him ride on the team van to and from games and allow him to feel what it feels like to have to experience that shit! And, instead of having twelve assistant coaches on an NBA bench, trade in one of those spots and hire a damn psychiatrist and schedule appointments for the players! Put the clause in his contract that he has to show up instead of having these useless promotional events so the fans can kiss the ring... Or lack thereof... To hell with all of the role model BS!

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
January 23rd, Saturday/ Where was I last week on the Monday that Martin Luther King's birthday was celebrated? I usually get up at 6 a.m. by radio alarm to the Mike and Mike Show on ESPN radio. I was informed that "Greenie" ( The real thin Mike) referred to MLK as Martin Luther "Coon!" I got the information out of context so...
But, I heard that and I also heard that there is a group that is considering starting an all white pro basketball league! (No Negroes allowed!)
Here is my point... Racism is alive and well. It does not go away... EVER! It's like herpes. Now, here's the irony. If Black Americans are so disregarded and disrespected and unwanted in America, why did some dumb ass even have the bright idea to bring us here in the first place?

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
January 18th, Monday/ I have to say that I am not a big music video fan but I sometimes watch them to see who is doing what out there in pop land. There is one chick that has my undivided attention... And that chick is Lady Gaga!!! Talk about reinventing the wheel? To me she seems to be a cross between Madonna, Annie Lenox and "Lily" (Herman Munster's wife) and I don't mean that in a bad way! This girl has an act!
If she were mentoring girls and said that "you can be anything you want!" to them, I would believe her! She is something different! The clothes, the hair, the makeup, the dance routines, the singing, the lyrics... I could only wish that my balls were big enough to be that different! I wonder what planet she is from? (I know she is from New York but that is like being from another planet!)
Anyway, I applaud her because she dares to be... whatever! Too bad the whole world is not that free in mindset to be that expressive. Maybe it would be a better place if we could all live and let live... But, no. We are trapped in a thought process that is way too restrictive and discriminating. It seems like the more alike we are in thinking, the better for some folks!
Pat Robinson had the audacity to say that the earthquake Haiti endured was self imposed because Haiti made a pact with the devil! I saw a news report on 60 Minutes where dead bodies were being loaded into dump trucks by a huge earth mover! Now, even if I thought that, how could I be so insensitive to spread that comment around, considering the circumstance?
One day, before I leave the planet, I would like to experience just one day where my mind thought like Lady Gaga thinks! Just one day I would like to know what that feels like... To be that free of thought where I dared to do whatever and not worry about what others thought... Man, that would be some kind of freedom(?)!

A Warped POV by A. Dacosta Brathway
January 9th, Saturday/ Okay, maybe someone can explain the Rooney Rule to me... The NFL has a rule that when a team wants to hire a head coach, they have to interview a "qualified" black coach first. Case in point is the "targeting" of coach Pete Carroll for the job with the Seattle Seahawks. He was "targeted" by the team to be their next head coach but they, (Seahawks)first, have to interview a "qualified" black coach, turn him down, then they can hire Carroll.
Maybe it's me but how stupid and discriminating is this rule? A "qualified" black coach cannot get the job! Why? He's "qualified!" Sounds to me like this is just some more plantation BS! No disrespect to Carroll. He may be as qualified as they come but why even have the rule in place if a coach can be "targeted" for employment and the rule has a built in bypass? It must be nice to be able to circumvent the rule(s) and get away with it and it is all legal and by the book huh? The real sad part about this is what if Carroll turns out to be a dud? Do the same rule(s) apply? Of course it does and the same damn idiotic process takes place all over again!
